Garden Plant List (Excel file)

This is an alphabetical listing of plants in the Clovis Botanical Garden. Plants are listed by genus and species, including common name, family and origin. This list is a work in progress, continuously up-dated, corrected, and revised as needed. In the future, there are plans to provide an accompanying map that will indicate the plant locations within the garden.

Garden Tours

Garden tour of Ruth Bancroft Garden and the Gardens at Heather Farms in Walnut Creek on April 24, 2012.

Ruth Bancroft Garden: Ruth Bancroft, at age 103, still lives on the property where she established a collection of water-conserving plants for the education and enjoyment of the public over 40 years ago  The garden has become an outstanding example of a water-conserving garden, appropriate for our Mediterranean climate.  The garden also houses important collections of aloes, agaves, yuccas, and echeverias.  Aeonium ‘Genn Davidson’, the first succulent in Ruth’s collection, is still growing in the garden. Gardens at Heather Farms: The 1968 it was just a vision.  Heather Farm, a six acre garden, started much like the Clovis Botanical Garden with an all-volunteer organization on city property.  In 1971 they started fundraising to build classrooms, offices and an event center.  A volunteer aced nonprofit, the Garden orates with a small part-time staff.  Together, the staff and volunteer ream provide demonstration gardens, classes for adults and children, tours, and rental opportunities for various events.  See more at www.gardenshf.org
